The Duchman Family Winery was co-founded in 2004 by Drs. Lisa and Stan Duchman (above) in a quest to bring world-class winemaking to Central Texas and the Texas Hill Country. Like many winery owners today, their passion for wine and winemaking grew out of their love for the great wines of Europe and the U.S. and their longstanding friendships with many of the great restaurateurs and sommeliers.
The Duchmans have had the privilege of visiting some of the great wine-producing regions of the world from the revered producers of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay from California to Oregon as well as enjoying days of conversation with some of the prestigious owners and winemakers from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Italy.
Italy is where the Duchmans shared some of their most thrilling food and wine experiences and it was in the land of Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Aglianico, and Vermentino that they found the inspiration that would ultimately take shape with the Duchman Family Winery in Driftwood, Texas, about 20 minutes southwest of downtown Austin.
